Norway

Week 16 (April 17 to 23) found myself traveling through Norway. For one week I was on the train visiting afew of the major cities and seeing some of the dramatic landscape.

Trondheim, Oslo, Stavanger, Bergen and Flåm were the cities/towns that I visited.

Trondheim was kinda boring because it was Easter Monday and nothing was open nor were there any people about, except for in the train station.

The highlight of Oslo, in my opinion, was Vigeland Parken and Museet (http://www.museumsnett.no/vigelandmuseet/2parken/2b_historikk/engelsk/2bframeset.html). I spent a full day exploring the statues and then proceeded to the museum to see them again, but this time in plaster. The rest of Oslo I found to be uneventful. Oslo has no character to make it interesting, although the inhabitants of that city are very beautiful and stylish.

Stavanger was better- it was colourful with unique architecture. I enjoyed my day there.

The ferry ride between Stavanger and Bergen was good, although it was abit overcast. It was four hours long and for the first hour I had to battle abit of motion sickness.

I loved Bergen! I think I could live there. It was full of character, colour, architecture, narrow cobblestoned streets and alleys that criss crossed every which way- chaos in colour. The people were extremely friendly and the city was easy to navigate through.

After I left Bergen I took the train to Myrdal (which is just a train station) and then proceeded on the Flåm Rail Line to Flåm. This is supposed to be one of Norways top train rides as it goes through a beautiful valley and ends at the tip of a fjord. It probably is very beautiful- in the right season. I was abit too early and the waterfalls were still frozen and the valleys were still brown (instead of lush green): but I did see the potential....haha

I enjoyed my trip although there was too much train involved. On Sunday, when I returned, due to some scheduling problems I had to leave Oslo at 08:00 and I arrived in Östersund at 20:30- I must say, I am sick of the train.
