Skating at Sunset on Storsjön Lake
The lake has finally frozen and there is a lot of activity there. Tracks have been ploughed for skating, cross country skiing and walking. They have cut a hole into the ice for those brave enough to jump in to the freezing water after being in the sauna. While I was in Norway I participated in some snow bathing - which is diving (nude or swimsuit) into the snow and rolling around and then quickly running back into the sauna to warm up. I must say it was an exciting experience- one I would do again and I think that if the opportunity presents itselt- I might try this (jumping into the water); but only if the opportunity naturally presents itself- I don't think I will go looking for it.
I attempted abit of skating yesterday afternoon and had alot of fun. The ploughed roads provide many kilometers of enjoyment. I have not been on skates in ages so it took abit of time before I felt comfortable on them and plus the skates were not ordinary ice hockey or figure skating skates- they are long distance skates (similar to speed skates) that can be attached to winter boots (depending on how supportive and sturdy they are).
